We are particularly delighted to inform you that Prof. Dr. Jan De Groof, one of the world’s leading experts on education law and policy, will be attending the conference and chairing several key sessions. Prof. De Groof’s distinguished career, spanning over four decades, has had a significant impact on global education policy. He currently serves as the President of the European Association for Education Law and Policy (ELA) and has held the UNESCO Chair on the Right to Education at the College of Europe in Bruges. His work includes substantial contributions to education law and policy reform in South Africa, where he has provided consultancy and advisory services to the government, particularly during the critical period of drafting and implementing Section 29 of the Constitution. Prof. De Groof’s international influence is further evidenced by his leadership roles in global education initiatives, including his appointment as a UNESCO Chargé de Mission to promote the Right to Education globally, and his coordination of high-profile missions to conflict-affected regions. His honorary doctorates from the University of Pretoria and other international institutions are a testament to his tireless advocacy for justice and good governance in education.
