Purpose
The Association for Distance Education Providers and Online Schools (ADEPOS) was founded in March 2023. The purpose of ADEPOS is to protect the interests of distance education providers and online schools operating in South Africa and to provide quality assurance to parents and learners in grades R – 12 who adopt distance education.
The association currently represents 19 entities operating in South Africa.
Goal
Adepos aims to work towards the recognition, registration (by the National Department of Basic Education) and accreditation (by a recognised accreditation body) of alternative education (irrespective of mode of delivery, business model or curriculum used) for learners of compulsory school going age (age 7 to 15 – or grade 9 – whichever comes first), as well as for learners in the Further Education and Training phase.
